This is one of the amazing hides in Zimanga, with mirror glass windows in two different direction allowing the possibility to shoot backlit or with the sun from behind simultaneously.
We had the opportunity to spend 3 sessions in the Lagoon hide during our stay ans every session had its charm and different light.
The primary guest was the large Pie fisher, and we had 2-3 of them almost constantly around us. Unfortunately, the Kingfishers saw a “rival” in the mirror glass, which made them constantly attack the window with beek first. Fortunately, this did not seem to affect them in any other way but they splashed water on the window making it more difficult to shoot through the glass 🙂
Another visitor was the beautiful Malachite with its amazing colours.
The three-banded Plover was, as with most birds during the trip, new to me but I really liked the appearance, as it almost resemble a shooting target…
I would love to go back sometime and hopefully get more birds and action than we saw during our sessions. There is always another photo to take… 🙂
